Hi All
Submitted 3 of Andy's tracks to a talent scout company - for a fee of course.
This is what they had to say (take a deep breath):
"Dear Chris
Firstly, thank you very much for sending in Andy’s submission. The structure of each track is fine as things that you want to happen, generally do happen where you want them to, i.e. good placement of parts and length of individual segments and overall the songwriting technique is fine. Worth a mention are the vocals, which we felt suited the style of tracks he’s doing and sold the tracks very well and he has a nice tone to his voice.
As far as the production is concerned all the parts have been played and programmed well. He obviously has an understanding of recording and it is a good effort.
Our favourite tracks and the ones that we all felt had the strongest tunes were “Justified” which had some good chord progression, good vibe, lyrically written very well and a good vocal and “Change A Million” which was probably the most commercial sounding track and a well put together backing track. We felt that these had the edge above “Not Sure” although still well constructed and executed but again looking in terms of a track to get significant interest and being if you will the breakthrough song for a new artiste isn’t quite there.
Some of our friends are top songwriters in the country, and on occasion they will send out a tape of material that they have written and will not get any interest from labels or artistes. They know instinctively that they have to go back and come up with stronger.
Structure, sound and lyrics are fine, it’s just a case of to keep writing because he needs to keep them coming as we do feel the potential is there.
The direction Andy’s going in Chris is good and are encouraged by the standard and focus of material he’s producing but we just feel at this time there isn’t the track that would act as a catalyst to trigger the serious industry support you need, but this isn’t to say he wont as the ability and talent is in place and we really would like to hear more from him with the hope of advancing forward.
Do encourage him to keep writing and please keep us informed and up to date with any new material he records. Well done again and we feel positive about his future.
REGARDS,
THE CARAGAN TEAM"
Comments would be appreciated.
Do you think we should keep feeding them tracks (and money)?
Do you think they will steal Andy's music and give it to others?
I intend to write back to them. Any help with content or ideas about which of Andy's tracks is most "commercially viable" welcomed!!
